REPORT FROM HPC COUNCIL MEETING

Sally Aldridge, Director of Regulatory Policy, attended the HPC Council meeting on 25 March as an observer and noted the following which are of interest to BACP members.

It was agreed that the revised generic Standards of Proficiency should go for public consultation later this year and BACP will be asking its members for comments on this.

The workplan for counselling and psychotherapy was also agreed. The HPC will be holding meetings with stakeholders in all four countries in the Autumn. The Professional Liaison Group (PLG) will also meet again between May 2010 and February 2011 with a report from the PLG to go to the HPC Council Meeting in May 2011.

The schedule for the workplan is as follows:

• May 2010 - PLG Meeting
• September to December 2010 - Stakeholder events to take place in each of the four home countries
• February 2011 - PLG Meeting
• May 2011 - PLG report to the HPC Council Meeting
